Firefighters worked tirelessly for almost four hours to extinguish a fire in an underground car park in Orihuela Costa. The alarm was raised at twelve twenty-one yesterday morning on Calle del Mar in Cabo Roig, located in a commercial area known as Aguamarina. Fortunately, due to the time and date, when the area is less crowded than in August, no injuries were reported.

The fire destroyed four vehicles and caused damage to an additional ten. The considerable amount of smoke prompted the evacuation of a nearby five-storey building. In response to the emergency, the entire fire service team from the Torrevieja station, along with assistance from the Almoradí station, was deployed to the scene, totalling fifteen personnel.

After extensive firefighting efforts, the blaze was declared extinguished just after four o’clock. Additionally, the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre had mobilised a Basic Life Support unit as a precaution, although it ultimately did not need to be used.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown. However, some residents have noted that certain parking spaces have been converted into storage rooms, with brick walls installed in some cases.
