In a significant blow to organised crime, the Guardia Civil in the Murcia Region has conducted Operation ‘Dominium’, resulting in the arrest of three individuals linked to a notorious Chilean criminal group, known as ‘los fantasmas’. These suspects are believed to be responsible for a number of thefts and burglaries across the provinces of Murcia, Alicante, and Almería. The arrests come after a series of investigations following a report of twelve thousand euros being stolen from a vehicle parked in Mazarrón.

The operation was initiated last December when a local resident reported the theft after withdrawing money from a bank in Puerto de Mazarrón. Surveillance footage revealed a suspect inside the bank who appeared to be monitoring the victim. Following the victim’s departure, accomplices allegedly broke into the parked car to steal the cash. Investigative efforts by the Guardia Civil identified the suspects, leading to simultaneous operations to apprehend them in Los Alcázares and Murcia.

During the intervention in Los Alcázares, law enforcement detained two individuals as they arrived at a supposed meeting point. One was already wanted for their involvement in the theft of thirty-five thousand euros from a victim at a bank in Orihuela. Further investigations in Murcia resulted in the arrest of another individual, with evidence gathered indicating the use of disguises and rented vehicles in their criminal activities.

Currently, the suspects, aged thirty-six, thirty-seven, and sixty-one, face charges for four counts of robbery, one of theft, forgery, and belonging to a criminal organisation. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities suggesting that further arrests could follow as more information becomes available.
