The Guardia Civil has concluded a significant investigation named Operation Rajods, which uncovered a complex scam against a metal supply company based in the Vega Media del Segura region, Murcia. The investigation began on the twelfth of May, twenty twenty-five, after the company reported a fraudulent commercial agreement worth over eighty thousand euros with a supposed buyer from Bajo Vinalopó in Alicante, who had ceased operations in December twenty twenty-four.

Initial inquiries revealed that the identity of both the buyer and its manager had been usurped, allowing the scammers to obtain forty tonnes of galvanized metal straps and twenty-five tonnes of corrugated sheet metal without prior payment. The stolen materials were later sold at significantly reduced prices. Additionally, the fraudsters utilised a third party’s identity to acquire prepaid mobile phone lines for communication, complicating their identification.

Crucial tips from the public led to the identification of one of the offenders, sparking the first arrests in July twenty twenty-five. The two detained men, aged between thirty-eight and sixty-seven, along with three others currently under investigation, face allegations of identity theft and fraud. Some of the suspects have previous convictions for similar offences.

Part of the stolen materials has been recovered in locations including Torre Pacheco, Campos del Río, and Archena in Murcia. Following their release, legal proceedings have been forwarded to the Court of Instruction in Orihuela for further action.
