The Guardia Civil of the Murcia Region has concluded Operation Handel Twenty-Five in Los Alcázares, aimed at solving a series of forceful burglaries at local businesses. Authorities have identified, located, and arrested a young man believed to be responsible for these incidents. To date, investigators have cleared ten crimes involving robberies at hotels and shops, with expectations that this number may rise as the investigation progresses.

The operation commenced at the start of summer, sparked by a notable increase in burglaries. Business owners expressed concerns over the growing frequency of these crimes, prompting a focused response from the police. Through technical inspections and other investigative measures, officials gathered substantial evidence regarding the patterns of behaviour exhibited by the suspect.

All burglaries involved the perpetrator forcibly entering shops by breaking doors or windows with large stones or paving slabs. These crimes typically occurred during the early hours of the morning, with the suspect concealing his identity with a hood. The primary targets were restaurants, cafes, and retail outlets, with some businesses being hit multiple times within a short span.

During one incident, alarms alerted authorities to a break-in at a local establishment, leading to a rapid response from multiple patrols. Officers discovered a youth with injuries consistent with climbing a wall and fence, matching the suspect’s description. Having gathered sufficient evidence, he was arrested and is currently facing charges of committing theft by force. The investigation continues as links to further crimes are examined.
