The Town Council of Catral has formally approached the Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory for the construction of a shared parking facility near the AP-7 motorway. The proposed location is positioned strategically between the roundabouts on the CV-913 road at the entry point to Catral from Callosa de Segura.

This site boasts an ideal connectivity within the Vega Baja region, being directly linked to the AP-7 and A-7 motorways and situated close to the San Isidro–Albatera–Catral and Callosa de Segura–Cox commuter train stations.

Catral’s Mayor, Joaquín Lucas, emphasised that this initiative aims to provide residents with a modern and practical solution for their daily commutes, promoting sustainable mobility. He noted that it could position Catral as a hub of connectivity within the province of Alicante and Murcia.

Additionally, the development of this shared parking area would transform a currently abandoned space, contributing to the improvement of the urban image and layout of the municipality’s entrance. The Town Council is hopeful that the Valencian Generalitat will view this proposal positively, especially since similar initiatives have proven successful in other municipalities across the Valencian Community.
