The local government of Torrevieja has approved a new strategic modification to its grant plan, allocating three hundred thousand euros to implement direct financial aid for families welcoming new children through birth or adoption. The anticipated assistance is set at four hundred and fifty euros per child and is expected to apply for the 2024 financial year. This represents a maximum of six hundred potential applications based on demographic statistics for the area.

Currently, the details of the proposal are still subject to final validation; however, the local administration will process these grants independently, bypassing the requirement for a non-duplication report from the Generalitat. This decision aims to expedite the application process for families seeking assistance.

Óscar Urtasun, the Councillor for Social Services, has stated his commitment to fostering policies that support family growth, particularly as he was previously involved with the Alicante Association of Large Families. In Torrevieja, approximately nine hundred families are registered as large families, with seventy classified under special conditions. With a reported increase of more than six thousand residents last year, Torrevieja continues to grow, indicating a promising trend for future population stability.
