A seventy-seven-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being hit by a vehicle on Wednesday night in Torrevieja. The incident occurred around nine forty-five as she crossed a pedestrian crossing on José Samper Avenue, near Helena Street. Her partner, who was crossing alongside her, managed to avoid being struck by mere centimetres. The driver of the vehicle, an eighty-four-year-old man, was arrested at the scene for reckless driving and has been released on bail following questioning.

Emergency services arrived swiftly, and the woman was transported to the University Hospital of Torrevieja in a state of cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to revive her for over an hour, medical staff were unable to restore her vital signs. They had recently returned from a medical appointment in Guadalajara, their usual city of residence.
