A disturbing incident occurred in Rojales where two local police officers were insulted, threatened, and ultimately assaulted by members of a single family. The situation escalated during an attempt to resolve a vehicle obstruction that was preventing an elderly resident from exiting her home. The officers responded to a call from the resident, who reported that a car was parked on the pavement outside her door, leaving her unable to leave due to her limited mobility.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers identified the vehicle’s owner, a nearby resident, and issued him a warning about the expired inspection of his vehicle. It was during this encounter that the situation deteriorated; the vehicle owner verbally attacked the officers and made serious death threats, particularly targeting one female officer.

As the tension rose, other family members arrived, which led to a physical assault on the officers and an attempt to seize one officer’s personal camera to eliminate evidence of the confrontation. This prompted police reinforcements from nearby areas to assist the local officers in subduing and arresting the assailants.

Ultimately, four individuals were arrested for their violent actions against the officers, including making death threats and resisting authority. They have subsequently been released with charges pending, while the local police chief emphasised that violence, in any form, is unacceptable and calls for a restoration of respect towards law enforcement.
