The Generalitat Valenciana has announced an extreme pre-emergency level for forest fire risk across the Comunidad Valenciana, effective from Monday the eleventh of August. This warning, published on their official social media account, includes a ban on igniting any type of fire in forested areas. This prohibition encompasses barbecues, prescribed burns, and the use of mechanical tools that could generate sparks.

The heightened risk is exacerbated by a significant increase in temperatures forecasted by the State Meteorological Agency, with maximums expected to reach between thirty-nine and forty degrees Celsius in Valencia province, particularly in the interior of coastal areas, where an orange alert has been activated. In Castellón and Alicante, maximum temperatures will range from thirty-six to thirty-eight degrees Celsius, accompanied by a yellow alert.

This extreme heat is anticipated to be the most intense of the summer so far, surpassing values recorded at the end of June. Additionally, the intense heat may lead to storms in the interior, featuring very strong gusts of wind and minimal rainfall, which adds another risk factor for fire propagation. This warm episode will begin tomorrow in the Comunidad Valenciana as part of a heatwave affecting Spain since the third of August, with no clear end in sight.

Authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme precautions and adhere to the restrictions to prevent any fire outbreaks. The risks associated with the upcoming weather conditions highlight the need for vigilance in regards to fire safety in the region.
