The Local Police in Torrevieja have intercepted an electric scooter on Avenida de la Purísima that was travelling at a dangerously high speed of one hundred and thirty-five kilometres per hour. This is significantly above the maximum legal limit of twenty-five kilometres per hour for such vehicles. Furthermore, the scooter was fitted with an eight thousand watt motor, dramatically surpassing the legal threshold of one thousand watts, thus classifying it as an illegal vehicle.

The operator of the scooter, a twenty-four-year-old man from Ukraine, had been sharing videos on social media platform TikTok highlighting his reckless riding tactics. Reports indicate that the scooter bore a ‘China Export’ label and lacked certification by the European Union, raising significant safety concerns.

In parallel, the Torrevieja Local Police have initiated specific checks on Ramón y Cajal Street as part of a broader effort to monitor and prevent the improper use of Personal Mobility Vehicles. Authorities urge all users of electric scooters and similar devices to adhere to current regulations to ensure public safety.

The Local Police Department of Torrevieja reminds citizens that irresponsible use of such vehicles can lead to severe consequences, not only for the users themselves but also for the public.
