On the seventh of July, the Civil Guard detained two suspects linked to the homicide of a seventy-seven-year-old woman in Guardamar del Segura, which occurred on the twenty-first of December, two thousand twenty-two. The son’s involvement, along with a thirty-five-year-old friend, has been confirmed by evidence collected at the crime scene. The mother’s body was found in her home with signs of violence, leading investigators to believe a heated argument preceded her death.

The investigation began when authorities received a call reporting a possible homicide. Upon arrival, officers found the victim restrained and her son claiming a robbery gone wrong. His statements raised suspicion and prompted a thorough homicide investigation. The forensic team conducted an extensive examination of the crime scene, retrieving over one hundred pieces of evidence, including biological materials for analysis.

With the analysis results received in July, the Civil Guard established that the victim’s son was the main suspect, supported by evidence indicating the presence of his friend during the incident. The investigation concluded that the son staged a robbery to cover up the murder, a confrontation allegedly occurring shortly after the victim returned home from work.

On the day of their arrests, the son confessed to the crime in front of the Civil Guard and implicated his friend, who suggested the plan to simulate the theft. Both men were remanded to custody, with the son facing prison time while the friend remains under surveillance, pending further analysis of evidence. The operation, dubbed Jónico22, involved multiple agencies, including the Homicide Team and the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard in Guardamar.
