The City Council of Cartagena has officially approved the execution project for the renovation of La Isleta Bridge, having earmarked a budget of five hundred and thirty-seven thousand six hundred and fifteen euros. The bridge, which is in an advanced state of structural deterioration, is located at kilometre three of La Manga del Mar Menor and provides access to the nautical club, the sports harbour, and various surrounding developments.

The renovation works are expected to take four months and will be financed partly through two hundred thousand euros from regional funds, as well as from the municipal budget of two thousand and twenty-six. The new bridge will completely replace the current structure, significantly improving both safety and accessibility for this vital communication route in La Manga.

The design includes a prefabricated beam deck, a traffic lane, a pedestrian crossing, and the replacement of all affected services. Furthermore, a temporary walkway will be installed to ensure pedestrian transit during the construction period.

Although regulations require the City Council to possess rights over maritime-terrestrial public domain to carry out such works, the local government has opted to parallel the necessary procedures. By taking advantage of the Coastal regulations for repairing the infrastructure, the processing of the concession has commenced concurrently with the project tendering, aiming to prevent any further delays in what is considered a priority action.
