The National Police have apprehended six individuals, one of whom is a minor, on suspicion of offences against public health and electricity fraud in Cartagena. The arrests stemmed from investigations into the dismantling of illegal drug sales points in the Virgen de la Caridad neighbourhood. These properties were reportedly used for the continuous sale of illicit substances, creating a climate of insecurity for local residents.

Investigations revealed a significant influx of individuals purchasing drugs, causing numerous complaints about the strong odours emanating from the properties and disruptions to the electrical supply due to illegal connections. Following judicial approval, police executed search warrants on both premises, resulting in the seizure of more than four kilograms of cannabis buds, cocaine prepared for sale, and an indoor cannabis plantation consisting of four hundred and thirty-three plants.

Alarmingly, one of the properties was located mere metres from a public school. Authorities identified that numerous drug transactions occurred during school hours, heightening concerns among parents and local residents.

Four of the six arrested individuals have been placed before the judicial authority to determine appropriate precautionary measures. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts by the National Police to combat drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region.
