Over the weekend, the Local Police in San Javier seized a large quantity of contraband goods from a vehicle with British registration. Officers discovered six hundred and thirty-one packets of tobacco and one hundred and eighty-two electronic cigarettes lacking proper documentation and sanitary control. The incident involved four Romanian nationals, two men and two women, who were found concealing the illicit materials.

The police initiated the stop after noticing the vehicle, ultimately determining that it was uninsured and without a valid ITV, the Spanish vehicle inspection certification. According to police sources, while the suspect’s goods exceeded fifteen thousand euros in value, they were eligible only for administrative sanctions, as the law stipulates that items valued below this limit do not constitute a penal crime.

The Local Police stated that all contraband material was confiscated and would be held in police custody while administrative penalties are prepared. These penalties are subject to confirmation by the Guardia Civil, in case additional legal breaches are identified.

As of Monday, the seized merchandise is securely stored in police facilities, and further investigation continues into the activities of the individuals involved in this incident.
