A driver had to be rescued from his overturned vehicle on the Nueva Cartagena Avenue in La Unión. The accident occurred this Wednesday when the vehicle left the road and flipped. An off-duty policeman, who witnessed the incident, managed to pull the driver out through the window, saving him from potential injury.

However, instead of cooperating with the officer, the driver fled the scene. The off-duty policeman promptly reported the accident to the Regional Emergency Coordination Centre and provided a description of the fleeing driver. This facilitated a quick response from local law enforcement in Cartagena.

The police officer then searched the area nearby in his own vehicle and successfully located the driver. Upon arrival of the other officers, a breathalyser test was conducted, which revealed that the driver was over the legal alcohol limit, resulting in his arrest.

The quick actions of the local police ensured that a potentially dangerous situation was resolved safely, with the driver now facing legal consequences for his actions.
