Residents and holidaymakers in San Roque are voicing their frustration as the summer progresses and the beach remains largely inaccessible. Typically bustling with beachgoers and umbrellas, the shoreline is now almost deserted due to the absence of essential walkways needed to navigate the rocky terrain safely. This lack of accessibility has not only deterred visitors but has also raised concerns among local residents.

The Torrevieja Town Hall has yet to install the customary walkways, an initiative that locals have relied on for years. This commitment, originally upheld since the era of former Mayor Pedro Ángel Hernández Mateo, was intended to facilitate easier access to the sea in this rocky area. Residents, many from Vega Baja, Murcia, and Madrid, feel forgotten by the municipality, as their calls for improved beach access have gone unattended.

Finally, a new contract has been assigned to Actividades Torrevieja SL and Baliser Equipamientos de Playas SL, expected to bring in substantial revenue for public amenities.
