Torrevieja is set to welcome the construction of eight hundred and eleven new protected homes as part of the Plan Vive initiative. The Vice President Susana Camarero emphasised that this allocation aims to address the housing access issues faced by hundreds of families in the region. Mayor Eduardo Dolón reiterated the project’s significance in substantially expanding the public housing stock in the city.

The construction project involves four separate lots, with the majority of the homes being built in the La Hoya sector. The selected companies have a period of twenty days to present the necessary documentation and guarantees before work commences. Camarero stated that after a lengthy administrative process, the community will soon see cranes in action across Torrevieja and other municipalities involved in this housing drive.

This initiative falls under the broader Plan Vive, aimed at mobilising public land for the construction of ten thousand affordable homes. The local government plans to provide these new structures in exchange for municipal land, which will help expand the public housing portfolio. The project highlights the cooperation between various levels of government to tackle the pressing issue of housing accessibility in the region.

Camarero assured residents that the Plan Vive is an effective project that will directly address the housing needs of the community. With the construction of the new homes, Torrevieja is poised to make significant progress toward providing dignified housing solutions for its residents.
