A seventy-two-year-old man needed urgent assistance at Nares beach in Mazarrón after getting into difficulty in the sea this afternoon. Lifeguards quickly responded to the scene, where the man was struggling to remain above water due to a blow that caused him to swallow water. He was unable to reach the shore by himself.
Local emergency resources, including the Protection Civil team from Mazarrón, were dispatched to support the lifeguards. The situation was managed effectively until the arrival of a Mobile Emergency Unit, staffed by specialists from the Urgencies and Emergencies Management.
After being stabilised at the scene, the man was transported by ambulance to Santa LucÃa hospital in Cartagena for further medical attention. His condition is not currently known, but swift action by the rescue teams enabled timely care.
Authorities remind the public to exercise caution while swimming and to follow beach safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
