Corvera Airport has marked a significant milestone with the launch of its first direct flight from Marseille, France, introducing a new air route linking the Region of Murcia with southeastern France. The inaugural service, operated by the Spanish low-cost airline Volotea, arrived on July seventh. Approximately one hundred passengers were welcomed with complimentary gift bags, celebrating this exciting addition to the airport’s services.

This new route will operate twice a week, specifically on Mondays and Thursdays, extending service until August twenty-eighth. Over the summer, a total of thirty-two flights are planned, providing around five thousand seats between Murcia and Marseille-Provence Airport.

The director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Juan Francisco Martínez, commented on the importance of this connection. He stated that it represents a milestone in diversifying markets and strengthening international air connectivity, key goals outlined in the regional government’s Strategic Tourism Plan for twenty twenty-three to twenty thirty-two.

France continues to be a vital market for the Region of Murcia, ranking as the second-largest source of international tourists after the United Kingdom. Recent data shows that between January and May of this year, sixty-five thousand three hundred fifty-three French visitors arrived, accounting for fourteen point two percent of international arrivals. The airport’s newly established direct links now connect the Region of Murcia to twenty-two European airports across seven countries, positioning it for continued growth in tourism and economic vitality.
