The Generalitat Valenciana has officially granted permission for the construction of the Pedrera Solar project in Algorfa. This solar plant, featuring sixteen thousand one hundred twenty panels and a capacity of ten megawatts, will cover approximately one hundred twenty-five thousand square metres. It is strategically located between the urban settlements of La Finca and Montebello, adjacent to the scenic Hoyo Serrano area.

The investment for the Pedrera Solar project is estimated at nearly six million euros, which will include provision for the future dismantling of the facility. The project signifies the continuing momentum of renewable energy developments in Algorfa, following several proposals in the Hoyo Serrano region that are nearing final approval stages. A secondary project, Serrata, is also under consideration with similar specifications.

The region anticipates significant economic benefits from creating renewable energy sources. However, local authorities have not yet officially commented on the impact on agricultural land and proximity to natural attractions. There are concerns regarding the project’s proximity to the Hoyo Serrano and its implications for visuals and tourism in the area.

As local interest grows in solar energy, the Pedrera project is regarded as one of the largest solar initiatives approved for the Vega Baja. While there are smaller operational solar plants nearby, the region is now poised for expansion in sustainable energy generation and may soon see more projects come to fruition as demand for renewable energy increases.
