An eighty-five-year-old man sadly died this afternoon while taking a swim at La Mota Beach in San Pedro del Pinatar. The local emergency service, Centro de Coordinación de Emergencias 112, received a call at twelve fifty-three, reporting that an unconscious man was at the beach.
Upon arrival, members of the Civil Protection team confirmed that the man was in cardiac arrest after swallowing a large amount of water. They immediately began resuscitation efforts in an attempt to revive him.
The regional emergency services, known as Gerencia de Urgencias y Emergencias Sanitarias, dispatched an ambulance to the scene. Despite the swift response from medical personnel, they were unable to revive the man and could only certify his death.
Authorities are urging beachgoers to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines while swimming, especially during high traffic beach hours. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.
