The National Police in Spain has successfully dismantled a criminal network that disguised the illegal sale of THC-infused products as legitimate CBD items. This operation spanned multiple towns, including Elche, Almoradí, and Valencia, resulting in the arrest of five individuals believed to be leading this illegal operation.

The investigation began in November twenty twenty-four when local police observed an unusual rise in drivers testing positive for THC during routine checks. Interestingly, these drivers reported that they had not consumed any illicit drugs but had used CBD products that exceeded legal THC levels, a situation prompting further investigation.

Authorities traced the illegal sales to a Spanish criminal organisation founded in Elche, which had been falsely presenting itself as a legal CBD seller since twenty twenty-two. Analytical tests revealed that some products contained THC levels up to seven times higher than the legal limit.

The police carried out simultaneous raids across various provinces, resulting in substantial seizures, including over eleven thousand doses of ready-for-sale products and cash. This has raised serious concerns about public health and the welfare of consumers misled by the false claims surrounding these CBD products.
