The explosion at Casa Javi bar in Lo Pagán on Thursday has left three people in serious condition. According to health authorities, one victim, the bar owner, is currently being treated in a burn unit at La Arrixaca hospital, while another is in the intensive care unit following emergency surgery. The third individual has been transferred to Los Arcos hospital and is reported to be stable. A total of fourteen others have suffered minor injuries and have since been discharged.

Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene after the explosion, which occurred at around twelve fifteen. Witnesses described scenes of panic among locals and traders, as the explosion took place during a busy market day. Many residents aided the injured before the arrival of paramedics. One local mentioned that the explosion felt like being in a war zone, describing the loud impact as unprecedented in the area.

The site of the explosion has been cordoned off as investigators from the Guardia Civil of Valencia examine the area. Initial findings suggest that the explosion was possibly due to a gas leak, with evidence of a cut rubber hose connected to a butane cylinder found in the bar. Authorities are investigating the possibility of foul play concerning the condition of the gas cylinder.

In response to the incident, the San Pedro del Pinatar Council has set up information points to assist those affected, including locals who suffered property damage as well as market workers facing losses due to the explosion.
