Police in Benidorm arrested two thirty-five-year-old men for their suspected involvement in drug trafficking. The arrests occurred during the early hours of the morning after the suspects fled from a police checkpoint at high speed. Officers initiated a pursuit and eventually stopped the vehicle, which was reportedly hired.

During the chase, the suspects collided with a traffic sign, rendering their vehicle inoperable. Attempting to flee on foot, they were intercepted by law enforcement just a short distance from the scene. A search of the car revealed over seven thousand two hundred ecstasy tablets, approximately one and a half kilograms in weight, as well as six hundred and eighty euros in cash, several mobile phones, including a satellite phone, and a personal defence aerosol.

One of the arrested men has a criminal record for similar offences. Both individuals have been placed at the disposal of the Benidorm Court of Instruction, which will determine their legal status in due course. The operation highlights ongoing efforts by police to tackle drug-related crime in the area.
