A tragic incident occurred today at Playa del Cura in Torrevieja, where a man drowned during the afternoon. The emergency services were alerted around one o’clock, responding to reports of a man who had been rescued from the water in an unconscious state. Witnesses on the scene commenced cardiopulmonary resuscitation while waiting for the arrival of ambulances.
Medical teams from the SAMU arrived shortly thereafter and attempted advanced resuscitation techniques. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the seventy-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities indicated that an autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact causes of the drowning. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with swimming, particularly in crowded areas.
Local officials are expected to issue further statements as more information becomes available regarding this unfortunate event.
