A new municipal parking facility has opened on Coronel López Peña Street in Santiago de la Ribera, providing an additional two hundred fifty-three spaces. The mayor of San Javier, José Miguel Luengo, and Colonel Luis Felipe González Asenjo, director of the AGA, confirmed the news during the inauguration ceremony. The new facility builds on an earlier phase that created one hundred seventy-four spaces from five thousand nine hundred three square meters allocated to the town council.

Luengo highlighted the successful collaboration with the AGA, which has historically supported San Javier in various projects. The parking now has valuable sustainability features, including a permeable surface to manage rainwater and a photovoltaic shade structure to supply energy for electric vehicle charging.

This project represents a significant investment of one point nine million euros. Future developments will extend the total number of parking spaces to four hundred seventy-one, addressing the ongoing demand for parking in the town’s urban centre.

Supported by a grant covering eighty percent of costs, this initiative is part of a broader effort to modernise and enhance the commercial and tourist areas of Santiago de la Ribera, in line with European Recovery funds under the Next Generation EU programme.
