The Nature Protection Service of the Civil Guard has shut down a mechanic workshop in Algorfa operating without the necessary licenses. The operator, a forty-two-year-old man from Torrevieja, may face fines ranging from two thousand and one to one hundred thousand euros for serious violations of environmental laws. This unlicensed operation represents a significant risk to both the environment and vehicle owners.

During an inspection, officers discovered that the operator could not present any required opening or environmental licenses. Furthermore, the facility lacked the mandatory identification plate and failed to manage hazardous waste properly, including used oils, filters, and batteries. Despite claims of servicing only friends and family, officers found several vehicles being repaired on-site.

Illegal workshops like this one threaten the environment as automotive waste is hazardous. Proper disposal must occur through accredited waste managers to avoid pollution and maintain public safety. This operation also undermines licensed professionals who adhere to regulations in the industry.

The Civil Guard referred the case for potential action by the local council of Algorfa and the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade, and Tourism of the Valencian Community. In addition to fines, the operator may face actions including closure of the facility and restoration of any environmental damage caused.
