The Civil Guard has arrested a thirty-six-year-old man in Torrevieja, who was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant issued by Romanian authorities for involvement in drug trafficking. The suspect was located as a passenger in a Romanian-registered vehicle while attempting to conceal his face with sunglasses. Officers noticed the driver’s erratic behaviour and proceeded to stop the vehicle.

Upon identification, both occupants provided various documents, with the suspect presenting a Romanian identity card and driving licence. However, the officers’ keen eye caught the falsification of the documents. The suspect was detained for document forgery.

After his refusal to reveal his true identity, the authorities conducted further investigations. Eventually, they confirmed he was wanted in Romania since December thirty-first, twenty twenty-one, for drug trafficking offences. The arrest was made easier due to the suspect’s suspicious behaviour during the vehicle stop.

The arrested individual will face charges for document forgery and will also be presented to the National Court regarding the extradition process from Spain back to Romania.
