The Department of Health has received urban compatibility certification from Torrevieja’s Town Hall for a new modular building dedicated to rehabilitation at the University Hospital. The new rehabilitation area aims to alleviate longstanding accessibility problems faced by patients since the hospital opened in two thousand six. Currently, rehabilitation services are situated on an upper floor, which presents challenges, especially for patients with mobility restrictions. Constructing a ground-floor centre is seen as a vital improvement.

Despite the high demand for rehabilitation services—over fifteen thousand consultations in two thousand twenty-four—accessibility issues have led many patients to seek private care. The focus will now shift to completing various administrative processes for design, project proposal, and awarding the contract for construction.

Additionally, a collaborative effort from various political parties seeks to expand healthcare facilities in San Miguel de Salinas, urging the Generalitat to consider these necessary improvements and expansions as the local population grows.
