Los Montesinos is set to welcome the fifth edition of the Backyard Ultra race this weekend, commencing on Friday at seven PM. The event, held in the scenic Urbanización La Herrada, challenges participants to test their endurance over a ten-kilometre loop, with the goal of completing as many laps as possible within a limited time frame.

In preparation for the event, the local council has informed residents of La Herrada about access restrictions. From six PM on Friday until midday on Sunday, access to the sector designated for the race will be restricted, affecting traffic flow on adjacent streets. Notably, Calle La Herrada will remain entirely closed, while the only thoroughfare preserving two-way access connects Avenida Riegos de Levante with the Los Miras neighbourhood.

The Backyard Ultra format requires runners to complete a circuit of six point seven kilometres every hour. Each new lap starts one hour after the previous one, encouraging participants to strategically decide when to stop. This unique aspect of the race assesses both physical endurance and mental resilience, with the last person standing declared the winner.

As one of the established sporting events in Los Montesinos, the Backyard Ultra continues to draw local and international competitors, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition in the heart of the community.
