The deadline for presenting applications for the construction of six hundred and twenty-nine public homes in Torrevieja has officially ended. Six companies have submitted bids for the opportunity, namely Abala Infraestructuras SL, Aedas Homes Opco SLU, Construcciones Urdecon SA, Livanto Promociones SL, Lorca Familia SL, and Moorstyle España SL. This marks the only open application period after urban planning discrepancies were noted in the project’s specifications.

At the end of March, the Torrevieja City Council approved an extension for companies to submit their proposals. The extension was specifically for the areas designated for construction at La Hoya, as municipal technical services discovered that the partial plan allowed for five storeys, contrary to the original plan that only included four.

The overall budget for the construction project stands at approximately twelve point three million euros, with an execution timeline of five years. Housing options will include outright purchase, rental, or rent-to-buy arrangements. Furthermore, the agreement states that the City Council will receive fifteen percent of the total homes built, amounting to roughly ninety units.

Torrevieja has ceded four municipal land parcels for this project, with three located in La Hoya, allowing for one hundred and fifty-two, one hundred and sixty-two, and two hundred and seventy homes respectively. The fourth parcel in La Manguilla is intended for twenty-nine homes. Torrevieja joins nine other cities in the Valencia Community in a public housing initiative aiming to produce one thousand six hundred new homes under the Plan Vive programme.
