Torrevieja Town Hall has announced that a support ambulance will begin operating at the city’s weekly Friday market from 24 April. The service will be based at Parque Antonio Soria, where the market attracts large numbers of traders, workers and visitors.

The initiative has been presented by the Councillor for Markets, Antonio Vidal, and the Councillor for Public Health, Rosa Cañón. They said the measure is designed to strengthen safety and provide a rapid medical response in one of the city’s busiest public spaces.

The ambulance, classified as a Type B Basic Life Support vehicle, will be able to deal with minor incidents on site and arrange transfers to health centres if required. The council said common issues include fainting, low blood pressure, minor injuries and heat exhaustion, particularly during warmer and busier months.

The service will operate every Friday, or on the rescheduled market day if changes are made due to weather, between 9:00 and 13:30. The scheme has been coordinated between the departments of Public Health, Markets, and Security and Emergencies.
