The Valencian Government has awarded a €1,013,656.71 contract to improve the Maestro Francisco Casanovas Tallardà public care home in Torrevieja. The project will renew the lift service and refurbish two floors in order to increase the number of places for dependent older residents.

Social Services Minister Elena Albalat visited the centre and said the investment reflects the regional government’s firm commitment to public care homes and a model that places people at the centre of services. The residence, which is publicly owned and directly managed by the Generalitat, has 214 authorised residential places.

The works add to recent improvements, including new technological equipment and digital tools designed to support cognitive stimulation, social connectivity and better care management. The centre is also taking part in the rollout of the Integral and Person-Centred Care Model promoted by the Generalitat, as well as a pilot project using the Amaia Cuida digital tool to help staff design and monitor personalised care plans.

Before the visit, the minister met Torrevieja’s mayor, Eduardo Dolón, to discuss local social service needs. The Generalitat funds municipal social services through a €1.5 million programme contract, with a further €2.5 million for disability, children and youth services. She also visited APANEE and ADIEM facilities, where more than €700,000 has been invested in mental health day care provision.
