Seventeen people have been arrested after the Guardia Civil dismantled two coordinated drug supply points in Torrevieja that were allegedly linked to a surge in local crime. Investigators said the outlets were distributing heroin and cocaine and had become key supply hubs in the Vega Baja area.

The investigation began in February after officers noticed an increase in minor offences in two parts of the town. Police linked a series of thefts, vehicle break-ins, violent robberies and burglaries to drug users who were stealing items to exchange for narcotics.

The two supply points operated in different areas but were reportedly directed by a 55-year-old local man. One property had reinforced doors, surveillance cameras, lookouts warning of police presence and a handgun to protect the operation.

During raids on 10 April, supported by the Guardia Civil’s Reserve and Security Group from Valencia and specialist units, officers seized 68 grams of cocaine, 35 grams of heroin, smaller quantities of other drugs, €9,700 in cash, two cars and several stolen electric scooters. The suspects, aged between 23 and 63, face charges including drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons and membership of a criminal organisation. The alleged leader has been remanded in custody.
