Three people have died after a migrant boat was discovered adrift in the Mediterranean and brought into the port of Santa LucÃa in Cartagena.
Maritime Rescue transferred the vessel yesterday afternoon with five men on board. According to the Government Delegation, three of the occupants were confirmed dead. The two survivors were attended to on arrival and taken for medical assessment.
The latest incident has once again highlighted the dangers faced by migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is under way to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Emergency services, including the Red Cross, were involved in the response at the port. Further details have not yet been released.
