A 25-year-old Algerian man has died after a shooting in Torrevieja late on Saturday night. The incident happened at around 10.30pm in Calle Bergantín, close to Playa del Cura. A Guardia Civil patrol in the area heard gunshots and found the victim seriously injured inside the entrance of a residential building.

Emergency services, including a SAMU unit, treated the man for gunshot wounds to the shoulder and armpit. Despite advanced resuscitation efforts, he died at the scene. The body was formally removed at around 2am on Sunday.

Investigators believe the suspect fired up to six shots from the street into the building entrance before fleeing on a motorcycle. Bullet marks were found on windows and walls. Four people who lived at the property were taken to Guardia Civil offices for questioning.

One person has been arrested, although authorities have not confirmed whether that individual is the suspected gunman. The Judicial Police in Torrevieja, supported by the Alicante Criminalistics Laboratory, are leading the investigation under the direction of local courts.
