A man is due to stand trial in Elche on Thursday accused of sexually assaulting a woman and stealing 700 euros from her. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a prison sentence of six years and ten months for the alleged offences of sexual assault and theft.
According to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, the incident dates back to February 2022. The defendant and the woman met at a nightclub in Torrevieja and agreed to go to his home.
The prosecution claims that while the woman was asleep on the sofa, the man took 700 euros from her purse. The following morning, she allegedly woke up to find him subjecting her to sexual touching and other acts, from which she managed to break free before leaving the property and discovering the money was missing.
The case will be heard by the Seventh Section of the Alicante Provincial Court in Elche.
