A man has been arrested at the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia on suspicion of stealing personal belongings from several patients admitted to the centre.
National Police detained the suspect on Sunday after members of staff reportedly detected his presence inside the hospital. According to police sources, the man broke a window and attempted to flee using a fire escape staircase when nurses became aware of him.
Officers have confirmed that the suspect has multiple previous convictions for similar theft offences. He appeared before a duty judge in Murcia on Monday.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the full extent of the alleged thefts and identify any additional victims within the hospital.
