Spain’s Directorate-General for Traffic has launched the second phase of its Easter special operation, which runs until midnight on 6 April. It estimates 1,364,820 journeys on roads across the Valencian Community during this period, a 2.03% increase on last year.

In Alicante province, congestion is expected on the A-70 between kilometre 0 and 31.2 around Alicante’s ring road, and on several sections of the N-332, including access to Altea, the El Altet–Santa Pola coastal area, and Torrevieja.

Government delegate Pilar Bernabé has urged drivers to act responsibly during what is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Police will reinforce checks on speeding, distractions, and drink and drug driving, with particular attention to short trips and secondary roads.

Across both phases of the operation, long-distance journeys in the Valencian Community are forecast to reach 2,355,660. During the first phase, from 27 to 29 March, 582,428 journeys were recorded and one person died in Valencia province. Nationwide, 17,070,000 journeys are expected over the Easter period.
