Alicante recorded 10,851 complaints of gender-based violence in 2025, involving 10,230 victims, according to the annual judicial report. The figures make it the second highest province in the Valencian Community for reported cases. Regionally, 27,743 complaints and 25,545 victims were recorded, giving a rate of 92.7 victims per 10,000 women — the third highest in Spain after the Balearic Islands and Navarre, and well above the national average of 74.

One of the most striking figures in Alicante is the number of victims who chose not to testify against their alleged attacker. A total of 1,622 women exercised this right, the highest number in the region, ahead of Valencia with 1,597 and Castellón with 344. Across the Valencian Community, 3,563 victims — almost 14% of the total — declined to give evidence.

Valencian courts processed 4,913 protection orders during the year, granting 3,805 of them, meaning nearly eight in ten applications were approved. In addition, 8,704 rulings were issued in gender violence cases, with 7,359 resulting in convictions, an overall conviction rate of 84.5%.

The report also includes new data on cases of sexual violence outside intimate partner relationships, handled by specialised courts. In the final quarter of the year alone, 354 such complaints were filed across the region.
