Torrevieja Town Hall has valued the construction and installation of new stalls for the popular Hippies Craft Market at €3,545,488. The project, which will relocate the market to the harbour area beside the new leisure complex, represents an average cost of around €32,800 per unit including VAT. The council will fund the investment in full, with works expected to take up to 12 months from the formal award of the contract.

Current technical documents provide for 108 stalls, although sources close to the governing team have said the tender conditions are being amended and the final number could increase. The contract has not yet been put out to tender. Previously, nearly 190 wooden stalls operated along the former Paseo de la Libertad, although around 25 had little activity before their move to a temporary site on Avenida de la Estación.

The new white prefabricated structures, designed by DRM Arquitectura, will feature LED lighting, laminated wood finishes and low-voltage electrical installations. Two base models are planned, with modular combinations of up to four units. The legal guarantee period is तीन years, extendable to 54 months for higher tender scores.

The final layout within the port area remains under discussion with traders. The council has also indicated that occupancy fees will rise, although final amounts depend on the regional government’s port concession terms. The return of the craft market is expected during 2026 as part of the wider €42 million redevelopment of the harbour.
