A 37-year-old man has been remanded in custody after National Police officers uncovered a hidden drug compartment in his vehicle in Santa Pola, Alicante.

Officers from the Elche Drugs Unit began investigating after receiving information about a suspected drug dealing point operating from a home in the town. Police say the suspect was supplying narcotics to both users and other dealers across Alicante, Elche and Santa Pola, often taking what they described as significant security measures during his journeys.

He was arrested while driving his car. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a concealed compartment containing three packages of cocaine weighing 3.58 kilos. A subsequent search of his home led to the seizure of around six kilos of cannabis resin, 1.85 grams of pink cocaine, a revolver, a large quantity of ammunition, 5,620 euros in cash, precision scales and drug processing materials.

Police also impounded two high-end vehicles and a third car allegedly used to transport the drugs. The investigating court in Elche has ordered the suspect to be held in provisional custody.
