San Pedro del Pinatar Council has approved the contract process for a new citizen security and traffic camera network, aimed at strengthening safety across the municipality.

The project includes the supply, installation and launch of around 150 surveillance cameras, along with technical management and health and safety coordination. The system will integrate cameras, sensors and video analytics tools to monitor access points and other sensitive locations, improving traffic management and incident response.

The scheme has a base budget of €565,917.06 and is co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under the municipality’s Integrated Action Plan. It is designed to help prevent road safety offences, vandalism, property crime and anti-social behaviour, while providing reliable footage to support police investigations and cooperation with other security forces.

Installation work is expected to take six months from the start date, with technical oversight continuing until the end of the system’s guarantee period.
