Santa Pola Town Hall has stepped up efforts to improve connections on the N-332 as it runs through the municipality, describing several stretches as problematic for traffic flow and safety. Mayor Loreto Serrano met officials from the State Roads Unit in Alicante to present the council’s main concerns and push for long-awaited upgrades.

One of the key issues discussed was the stalled project to improve access from the N-332 near the Rocas Blancas hotel. The council argues that this junction is among the most accident-prone in the province and says urgent action is needed to reduce risks for drivers.

The local authority is also calling for an acceleration lane from the Gran Alacant exit towards Alicante, as well as a clearer connection at Playa Lisa. According to the council, both measures would relieve pressure on busy access points and improve overall traffic flow.

Although officials in Alicante have listened to the proposals, the matter has now been referred to Madrid. The council is considering whether it can draft and carry out some of the works itself, with ministerial approval. The long-standing proposal to dual the N-332 through Santa Pola also remains a priority, with leaders warning that the current layout creates a significant bottleneck.
