National Police have dismantled a suspected drug selling operation in Benidorm which was allegedly being run from a shop open to the public and a nearby flat used to store and prepare the drugs. A 43-year-old man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

The investigation began after officers received reports of suspected cocaine sales at a commercial premises in the city’s English leisure area. Police say the shop owner allegedly supplied small quantities of cocaine, prompting concern among neighbours because of the steady flow of buyers and reports of drug use in the street.

Surveillance operations led officers to identify the suspect and locate his home, which investigators believe was used to store drugs and related equipment. During searches of the premises, police seized 64 grams of cocaine, 4,440 euros in cash, an air gun and a vehicle.

Both suspects have been brought before the investigating courts in Benidorm. Police say the operation has shut down a drug sales point that had been creating a sense of insecurity in the surrounding area.
