A man with what police describe as an extensive criminal record has been arrested during a night-time operation in Guardamar del Segura.
Local Police officers, working in coordination with the Guardia Civil, stopped a vehicle as part of a preventive traffic control. The driver was unable to provide any personal identification, prompting further checks with the Guardia Civil.
Those enquiries confirmed that six active warrants were in force against him, linked to alleged offences including organised crime, arms trafficking and drug trafficking. As officers attempted to detain him, the man pulled a revolver from his waistband.
Police acted swiftly to restrain him and neutralise the threat without any injuries. The suspect has now been placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
