Torrevieja Town Hall has recorded a 69% increase in traffic fine revenue in its 2025 budget outturn. The council collected €1,421,368, well above the €841,933 initially forecast. The figures will shortly be presented to the full council.

The increase has been attributed to the installation of fixed speed cameras on several main avenues, alongside a mobile unit, and a rise in Local Police numbers from around 135 officers to nearly 180. According to the councillor for Traffic, Federico Alarcón, the cameras have significantly reduced average speeds on roads where fatal pedestrian accidents had previously occurred.

Income from the municipal towing service has also exceeded expectations. The concessionary company collected €370,303, compared with a projected €222,285.70 – an increase of 67%. Despite this, Torrevieja’s towing fee remains below €60, one of the lowest in the Valencian Community.

Meanwhile, the council is preparing to introduce a regulated parking system, known as the ORA or Blue Zone, covering more than 3,500 spaces in the town centre and near beaches. Residents will be able to apply for an annual permit costing €30 and will not pay to park in their designated area.
