Orihuela Town Hall has announced a new step forward in the long-awaited project to build a second health centre in Orihuela Costa. The move follows a favourable report from the Valencian Health Department, allowing the administrative process to continue through the delegation of powers to the council.

The project represents an investment of nearly 10 million euros. Plans include a 3,000 square metre health building on a 13,000 square metre municipal plot in the H1 Villarosa sector, along with parking for around 300 vehicles. The centre will provide five GP surgeries, five nursing consultations, two paediatric rooms with paediatric nursing, radiology, dentistry, a midwife’s office, women’s health services and blood testing facilities.

Funding for construction will come from the regional government, while the council will invest around 1 million euros to prepare the site and surrounding area. The total estimated budget stands at 8,870,766 euros, including more than 8.1 million euros for building works.

The council expects to put the drafting of the project out to tender later this year, once the delegation of powers is formalised. Construction could be tendered during 2027, as part of wider plans to strengthen public services in the growing coastal area.
