Two stretches of the N-344 in the Region of Murcia have been identified as among the most dangerous roads in Spain. The findings come from the latest road safety assessment of the State Road Network, carried out by the international Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) and the foundation of the Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE).

The N-344 runs for 143 km, linking Almería and Valencia through the Altiplano area. In Murcia, it passes through several municipalities including Alcantarilla, Molina de Segura, Las Torres de Cotillas, Alguazas, Yecla and Jumilla. Sections between Yecla and Jumilla are highlighted in the report as posing a particularly high risk of serious accidents.

RACE and iRAP have also raised concerns about the CT-32 between Cartagena and Los Beatos. The organisations warn that the route presents a significant danger for motorcyclists, after six fatal crashes were recorded there between 2022 and 2024. The report calls for targeted safety improvements to reduce the risk of further serious incidents.
