Orihuela Local Police have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in a burglary at a home in Orihuela Costa following a police pursuit on Tuesday night.

Officers responded to reports of several individuals inside a property on Calle Granizo. When patrols arrived, a vehicle fled the area, leading to a pursuit through nearby roads. Police said the driver carried out dangerous manoeuvres, including driving against traffic and ignoring officers’ instructions, before being stopped. Damage was found to the property’s lock and front door. The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving, driving without a licence and disobedience. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation has been passed to the Guardia Civil in Pilar de la Horadada.

In a separate operation, Local Police arrested a woman over alleged shoplifting offences at the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. Security staff alerted officers to suspected thefts in several stores.

Police located the suspects’ vehicle and recovered numerous items, valued at more than 800 euros, which could not be accounted for. One woman was arrested on suspicion of theft, while another remains under investigation. The recovered goods will be returned to the affected shops.
